Annual
Golf Tournament
Hello New London Kiwanis Club members and Happy Memorial Day, As
you will see in your upcoming News & Views, Friday was a great day
for golf and for the culmination of all of our hard work to raise money
for Kiwanis causes!! This was clearly a team effort and on behalf of
the golf committee, I want to thank the many club members who supported
this event in so many different ways. You sponsored the event, you
solicited other sponsors, you golfed, you recruited other golfers,
you gave us raffle prizes, auction items and golfer goodie bag gifts,
and you worked as volunteers for all or part of the day on Friday. One
of our members, Connie Potter, even returned from her new home in Ohio
to volunteer at the tournament! I think this event reflects
well on the club and it is certainly a financial success. Early
tallying shows us raising approximately $11,000. This would not have
happened if you had not been willing to make it happen. Thank you so
much for supporting this major fund raiser. We will be having
our final 2009 Golf Committee wrap-up meeting on Thursday, May 28th at
4:00 PM in Ted Nelson's office in New London. The purpose of this
meeting will be to discuss lessons learned. We hope to develop a list
of what we did well and what we need to improve or do differently in
the future. All club members are invited to attend this meeting.
Please come prepared to share your observations, ideas, and
suggestions. If you cannot attend the meeting, please send me an email
prior to Thursday with your thoughts. I am really looking forward to a
productive conversation which will allow us to continue to grow this
fund raising event and to grow as a club. Even if you did not attend
the tournament we are interested in your thoughts and ideas!! Once again, thank you so much. I look forward to getting your input.Sherry
